Review skydrive microsoft

The apps for Android and iOS are elegant and intuitive to use. Users are enabled to jump around folders and files with a few swipes and taps. They are particularly strong at syncing and displaying photos and videos that have been snapped on the smartphone — though OneDrive has plenty of competition in this area. With the whole Microsoft account and Microsoft subscription running, OneDrive gets protected by two-factor authentication 2FA , which is reassuring.

This means that even if your username and password are exposed, access to your files and your account is still going to be blocked. There's also a Personal Vault feature, which requires yet another layer of authentication like a fingerprint or a PIN for access. AES bit encryption protects files in transit and at rest, which is not the same as end-to-end encryption as Microsoft engineers can access your data when needed such as for a restoration, and Microsoft promises this is tightly controlled.

Microsoft stores the files across multiple data servers as well, to further guard against data loss, and overall, we consider it an impressively robust system. Finally, there is a free tier , but it only offers 5 GB of space. For those that need business features, like user management and advanced file auditing, a variety of business plans are available too. More expensive packages are available, that add in unlimited cloud storage for every user, or the Microsoft apps, but somewhat enigmatically, not both.

OneDrive really deserves to be considered in context, as for a dedicated Windows user, and for those that make regular use of the Microsoft suite, then OneDrive follows as a cloud storage extension to other Microsoft products. Put another way, it's not about the features or the pricing of OneDrive that makes it a good or a bad deal, it's really more dependent on what software and services you're currently using.

What we can say for sure is that OneDrive is considerably more polished than it was just a few years ago when it debuted as SkyDrive. OneDrive has matured to reliably take care of all your file backup and syncing needs capably, across multiple platforms. This is unbelievable. Do not buy this product… it is horrible. You can not get rid of it once you have signed up for it without losing all of your excel and word programs.

I had bought the word program and had it downloaded to my Mac prior to purchasing the one drive.. The one drive will not let me work in excel unless I renew my subscription.

I have tried to get rid of it since I purchased it. This was in the middle of I have emailed them numerous times and never get any response. I really need help with this….

When it ran out of space, we received constant notices that we need to pay for more space. So we are getting emails that tell us that our information will be frozen unless we pay them! You have to be careful because Iost all of the data I had. I utilized the 15 gb free storage. Microsoft failed. I had trouble downloading to onedrive, it was trying to capture my old account instead of the new one. I went around in circles. Mocrosoft failed. All my info, research, resume, photos and etc has been lost and, now can not be retrieved?!

I have loved using OneDrive for years now. Then repeats the process over and over again. Any links for sharing no longer work. And the only help now is via email from a country on the other side of the planet. I only get emails around midnight. I have contacted Microsoft as many ways as possible and so far all I get is the only way to get support is through email. And an Apple next time?

I needed OneDrive because it was the only way a friend had to get me photo — I signed up believing it was easy to cancel.

POS design to fraudulently keep you subscribed. Holy crap what a mess this is. Apparently yes. I missed the halcyon days of the Groove App. Anyway, after spending a few days uploading said music and files to the cloud I thought maybe I could at least sync itunes from there. Colossal mistake as it took as long to do that as it did to upload everything to the cloud. I could not understand why it was taking so long because I thought it just imported the file paths. No, it was making a whole extra copy of my music on my hard drive yes, and I unchecked that box.

I was hoping to have two libraries…one directing to OneDrive and the other to my external. Well, I had it all working fine on the external, but doing this EFFED it all up good and proper I thought that by creating a new library it was possible to store the links to both locations….

Anyway, I left it running over night because I did not want to stop it because it completely rearranged all my cloud folders so much so that until it finished I thought it deleted most of my library. Thankfully that did not happen. Then I tried to delete everything but it kept popping up like in a giant game of whack a mole until I got rid of the cloud based and local garbage files and it placed a crapton of stuff into the onedrive recycle bin. Here is my question, if I wanted local music on my drive I would have gotten a bigger computer!!!

And get this. It is super buggy when I try to upload via the web based interface crashing freezing etc. So that is my frustrating story.

If I want to actually listen to my music via streaming I have to move it to another cloud service…. I think. And if there are typos too bad. OneDrive is a disappointment. It is slow — 30GB takes four days to sync. It skips files that can not be copied for whatever reason. Microsoft does not have solutions to fix these issues soon.

How did you work out OneDrive is encrypted at rest? The description Cloudwards provides sounds like a cut and paste from the OneDrive for Business encryption pages that runs on Sharepoint. A reference to your source would be appreciated to provide me and others confidence that OneDrive is secure. In an earlier version if this review we had confirmation from a support rep that OneDrive did not encrypt at rest. However, after several email conversations with sales reps and engineers, we can confirm it does now, a few months later.

If encryption is a major worry for you, we recommend you use Boxcryptor to encrypt your files yourself. I have been trying to use OneDrive for mac for the past 6 months as it is included in my corporate office subscription for my small business.

I have 5 users. It is unfortunate we have to use office at all as it has all kinds of problems in general but due to clients preferences we have to. We have nothing but problems.

It works fine for small amount of shared files or fine to sync with one computer. Once you start syncing with multiple machines and working on documents from multiple machines and with multiple users it just cannot handle the versioning and syncing.

It is either always syncing or showing up to date but missing a ton of files. This is nowhere near a solution to serve as a primary shared drive. I had to switch to more conventional NAS and deal with getting users connected remotely. I imagine this would be great for a home user with a few 10s of small files, but OneDrive for Business I would never recommend to a business or power user.

It just keeps stalling and crashing. The amount of micromanaging required even get it going for a small while is unreasonable. The desktop app will not sync a file above 2 gb despite their claims of a 10 gb max. OneDrive will frequently use excessive amounts of CPU, for no good reason.

It basically means that mac users have to disable OneDrive while working, and leave it to sync overnight. When OneDrive uninstalls it leaves behind many many files. This is seriously bad behaviour for a Microsoft program. Mentioned before — file syncing. Just sync the files please. If I could give a rating of — 10 I would. Give me BOX back, please!!!! It looks that Onedrive block level sync works not only for Microsoft Office files.

However, it is much slower than Dropbox. It takes a couple of minutes to complete the sync, but it does not upload the entire container. I have suddenly had a whole group of photographs become un-viewable on my OneDrive that were previously viewable.

Cannot find anywhere to get support to fix it. I think the 1TB deal is good value. Of course when you first set it up if you have a lot of files then syncing will take a long time. But that just goes on in the background. If you need your upload bandwidth for video conferencing, say, you can pause sync for a given period. She installed it on her Mac, and saved her first file to OneDrive. I really like OneDrive. Total integration as noted with Microsoft Long story short, after 23 years with the same hotmail account, Microsoft has looked me out of my account for some sort of made up violation of TOS.

Just 1 strike and poof, access to a TB notice I said TB so I am a paying customer and they locked me out of vital files. Hotmail and Onedrive are gone! No response from MS.

I cannot stress this enough to not trust Microsoft with anything that you care about. Reading up on this, I am not the only one who got hammered by MS. Because the Cloudwards. When I went to the download link you posted, it says OneDrive is already installed with Windows I guess I knew that already, I just like the interface better and the ease of sharing files, etc. So I downloaded anyway and got an error trying to install because "A newer version of OneDrive is installed.

Okay this cleared things up for me! I think the issue is with the Store App, because after removing that and installing it directly from My Library from Microsoft Store, I still received the same pop-up upon startup. So, I wonder if this is merely an outdated pop-up in the Store app?

I'm not sure how that may have occurred but considering it's directly from Microsoft Corporation through My Library I'm not sure how malware could be the cause of this. And again it wouldn't be a big deal to share the information with Microsoft, except it says " The publisher has not provided links to their terms for you to review.

Thank you for your continued help! I'm positive I'm following your instructions to the letter, sorry you're not seeing the results you may have been expecting. I'm wondering if this may just be a bug? The only change i've made to my Onedrive recently was briefly linking it to my Samsung account for my camera roll backup which i have unlinked and reverted back to being managed solely by onedrive. I've tried uninstalling the app and following other guides online for this issue but after reinstalling the one drive app from the microsoft store the popup reappears.

While it may be a microsoft application and no doubt its safe to install, there has been no explanation as to why we are receiving this popup, why there is no terms for review and ultimately a way to stop this from happening every time the app is launched.
